What markets can I day trade?

What markets can I day trade?

Have you ever found yourself thinking “What markets can I day trade?”

Well you’re not alone. This is a question that every day trader finds themselves asking as they begin their journey toward finding financial freedom.

Above all, the main markets day traders find themselves trading are:

  1. Forex

  2. Futures

  3. The Stock Market

Because they hold trades for longer periods of time, swing traders tend to prefer the options market. In contrast, day traders are required to stay within the markets listed above.

In conclusion: to succeed as a day trader, you’ll need to learn all you can about Forex, Futures and the Stock Market.

Day Trading Forex

First of all, if you’re just getting into day trading, doing so in the forex market is going to be your best bet. The market moves slower, giving you more time to think about and execute your trades. Additionally, you can trade in the forex market with very little capital to begin with. Many day traders start trading forex with as little as $500, but you can start at some brokerages with as little as $100.

Another great aspect of day trading forex is that it’s very easy to get started. Find out more by CLICKING HERE!

Day Trading Futures

If forex is for beginners and stocks are for experts, day trading futures is probably where many traders find their groove.

The futures market is made up of agreements between a buyers and sellers to buy/sell a specific amount of an asset at a future time and date. Day traders make money from this market as certain prices fluctuate up and down throughout the day.

The futures market moves faster than the forex market, and costs much less to get started in than stocks. In contrast, it costs more than forex, but has less risk than stocks.

A faster market means more opportunity to make a profit. On the other hand, it also means less time to wrap your head around a trade that has gone against you.

Day Trading The Stock Market

The biggest drawbacks of day trading the stock market is probably the minimum balance account requirement.

In contrast to the markets above, you have to keep a minimum of $25,000 in your account at all times when day trading the stock market. If your balance falls below that amount, you’ll become unable to trade.

Another drawback of day trading the stock market is its rigid hours of operation. All trades must take place between the hours of 9:30 AM – 4:00 PM EST. Because of these hours, many day traders stick to the forex or futures markets for off-hours trading.
